ABOUT ATLANTA TANGO
ATLANTA TANGO is the local tango school formed by Angel Montero and April ParkerTheir goal is to put every tango dancer and of course YOU on the dance floor in the shortest possible time, so that you will not be stuck in classes forever without having a real social tango experience and begin to enjoy this wonderful and passionate dance!
They teach classes not only for budding Argentine Tango dancers, but also for intermediate and advanced dancers.
Their philosophy is that when dancers stop learning, they stop dancing, so they travel frequently around the United States in order to continue learning and improving their own dance techniques, thechniques that they share with people in their classes.
Angel and April are also tireless promoters of Argentine Tango in Atlanta, and they frequently bring master instructors into Atlanta to teach workshops.
They teach tango for the social dance floor- not for competition!
Unlike the performance version of tango, the social dance is improvised. Their style of dancing is always changing, and their philosophy of tango focuses on the connection between partners and musicality, while avoiding the overuse of preset choreographic patterns- and emphasizing improvisation as the ultimate goal of a wonderful dance experience.
Angel teaches traditional and new choreographic elements, and uses these elements to help students understand the technique in order to make them work- technique which is necessary in all tango movement. He also provides the tools necessary for leaders to understand how to musically express themselves in a dance. April adds her dynamic to their classes by introducing concepts and creating a framework for which a dance can be created by filling in other components, and also gives women the technique they need to become active followers. Their love and enthusiasm for tango is very apparent when they teach their classes, and they keep an energetic pace in their classes.
April recently conducted her One Year Leader sessions, and they were very successful, with several subjects. If you are interested in learning how you can become a highly-sought after leader in just one year, please write to April using our contact page.
If you come to our class with a 'serious tango face', beware- our classes are fun, so be prepared to smile, laugh and have fun dancing with us!
