Atlanta Tango
Argentine tango is most often known outside Argentina as a dance performed on stage or in a movie. But what most people in the United States don’t know is that it is a mainly social dance, and an experience that often can be transcendent. Look at the faces of those people dancing in the photos. They are in a bubble, floating together in their own dreams. Tango can take you there.
Atlanta Tango offers the experience of tango as it is danced in Buenos Aires and the best festivals in the United States. Our goal is to put students on the social dance floor in the shortest possible time—so you, too, can find your own bubble.
We teach the close embrace style of tango, also known as milonguero or apilado, which predominates in the crowded clubs of central Buenos Aires. Unlike the performance version of tango, the social dance is entirely improvised. The close embrace style emphasizes the connection between partners and musicality and uses a rich and subtle body language. Come learn this beautiful and passionate dance!
Intesive Beginners Workshop. Saturday July 12th
Barbara Durr and Angel Montero will be teaching an INTENSIVE BEGINNERS WORKSHOP Saturday July 12th. This workshop is intended for beginners to have a first contact with tango, more experienced dancers that want to go over the basics and for those of you that already have some experience but want to know more about close embrace tango, the style that predominates in the crowded milongas of central Buenos Aires. During the workshop, we will work on posture, walking, basic choreography and navigation, among other things. We will go over the material covered in our regular 6-week Fun with Fundamental series.
If you have seen "milonguero" style in the local milongas and always wanted to know more about it, this is a great oportunity to answer all your questions.
